Mrs. MiYagi

Yesterday I caught the fly with 9 lives. The previous evening Steve and I spent most of our time trying to swat and kill the pesky little thing. Each time we snapped a deadly blow with our towels, each time the fly with 9 lives, well, flew away! The next day I hear a buzz coming from the window and with no towels in hand, I grab the empty plastic container from a tealight candle and trap the fly between the window and small plastic container. I used a lit candle to misdirect the fly’s heat sensing ability and was able to catch the darn thing. The only problem with the container and the window as my incredibly small "fly trap" was that Steve wasn't home to slide a piece of paper under it. So, there's Mish stuck at the window with the fly in a very tiny container against the glass.

Well, I did what Mr. MiYagi would do and I used the tealight votive holder to trap the fly between the plastic holder and glass holder, therefore, constructing a mini fly cage enabling me to move away from the window seal and to the door to release the fly to freedom. It was more humane and much more difficult. I would've preferred sudden death of the fly with 9 lives, but this was no ordinary fly.

Who knew candle accessories could be used to catch flies?! Another reason of why I really, really like candles.

The Beautitudes and Salt

Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth. Blessed...

  • I wanna be poor in spirit so I'm going to tell Him "I need you" everyday

  • I wanna be mournful with those who mourn so I'm going to ache for others' lives

  • I wanna be meek so I am going to ask God to give me eyes to see me the way He does

  • I wanna be thirsty for His Glory so I'm going to pray for more thirst and hunger

  • I wanna be merciful so I am going to put myself in other people's shoes and let go of preconcieved judgments

  • I wanna be pure in heart so I'm going to thank Him for creating me a new one

  • I wanna be a peacemaker so I'm going to love unconditionally by His Spirit

  • I wanna be persecuted (this hurts to write) because I need to get out of what's comfortable

  • It is no coincidence that these words follow the beatitudes: "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Oh God, that we would be a people who thirst for You.

    the Trip to Austin

Four hours there, and 3 hours back. Austin was awesome. I saw my best friend, Angelic, my sister, Pam and brother John, great friend and best co-worker Joy and her family, long-time college friend Justin and good friend from the Stone, Malita. All in all the trip worked out beautifully.

It began with this sign somewhere in Red Oak.

Angel and the pig mobile. (There was once a dino mobile when I was a UT student, and I wonder if this car is the same artist's rendering, except pork.)

Lic and I outside Waterloo. (Hudson's playing in the building)

    Joy and her bundle!

And ended with the highway . . . after the issuance of a speeding ticket to TX DL 183...blah...blah...blah

    copy cat

    0. kristen had a blog like this and i'm a numbers gal so here i go being unoriginal (but no one usually starts with zero so that's my twist of originality)
    1. i miss my husband (in a really desperate, you're part of my soul type of way)
    2. the days have been more productive and have seemed slower
    3. woke up late this morning (8 am) and had to kick it into gear
    4. molly was waiting for me so it was take care of harley, do some quick emailing and showering...simultaneously.
    5. no waterproof computers...but wouldn't that be cool?
    6. some day’s i feel like throwing my computer into the pool
    7. today i worked at buckets and bows (i have a really cool hook for a rap i wrote about a maid service)
    8. i missed my husband several times over the span of one minute and even had bouts of depression
    9. a burly man said he tried an anti-depressant for 3 days and said enough of that!
    10. i agreed.
    11. gave amy her beautiful custom designed invitation package after some small drama with the printer
    12. memoirs of a designer...a book i really need to write - chapter 6 entitled an ink spot revelation
    13. but i don't have time to write books unless my husband goes on a mexico trip 30 weeks out of a year
    14. then, maybe i might have time to write an outline or something
    15. decided it's not fun becoming one and then being in two separate geographical locations
    16. second decision - britney spears can do so much better than k-fed. seriously who does this guy think he is? and who am i that i would waste my time thinking about it or just typing it.

    19. might be able to work with irving bible church in getting their weekly worship pieces created...keeping my hands together on this one
    20. noticed people are superstitious over 666. i'm sorry these numbers don't mean anything to me. i stand in victory with the one who overcomes the world.
    21. my co-worker/friend told me she thinks the bible was written by a bunch of men, i agreed, then she said she doesn't think it's inspired by god. i mentally disagreed but told her that the message of grace strikes at the core of the human heart -- look at movies like shaw shank redemption (don't know if that was the best movie to choose but it was the only one surfing my brain waves at the time) and told her when i read scripture it becomes head knowledge, then makes its way to my heart and finds its home there. therefore, i encounter transformation.
    22. is it sad that i wrote 25 reasons why i miss steve in my journal? and NO you can't read it!
    23. i get to see some of my austin peeps this weekend in a whirlwind trip
    24. i'm getting tired can't keep this list going (not enough passion)
    25. guilty. I spell checked this post and misspelled the following: simultaneously, memoirs and desperate. It’s not like I received a BA in Journalism…oh wait, I did. Peace.

words to my favorite song at the moment

    Careful when you open
    It's easy to be broken
    In the strangest fashion
    You start a chain reaction
    When you look my way
    Somethings bound in a way
And I wonder if I ever felt this before

And all this time it was staring me blind
I can't believe i've never noticed my heart before

You are reaching something that is beating
I can't believe i've never noticed my heart before
Over and again they sink out of my skin
I can't believe i've never noticed my heart before

At least it was never so obvious as
    Now or never
    You put me back together
    In the perfect fashion
    Just watch my hearts reaction
This part of you is nothing that I'm used to
But I wont close my eyes cause they're onto you
And all this time it was staring me blind
I can't believe i've never noticed my heart before

The only time I noticed my heart is when I noticed you did, you did

    thank you mute math
